Business has gone mental – here’s how to keep yourself and your team sane

Aktualisiert: 29. Sept. 2023

Are you tired of your business feeling like a madhouse? It's time to get tough and take action to keep yourself and your team sane. With the experience of numerous projects we finished four our clients, I know a thing or two about getting results – and that includes creating a company culture that values mental health. I've seen my fair share of companies that have lost their minds. The pressure to succeed, the never-ending deadlines, and the constant competition can push even the most level-headed executives over the edge. But fear not, my fellow business leaders, for there are ways to keep yourself and your team sane in this crazy world of business.

First things first, let's get real about your own mental health. Look, I know you're a big shot CEO, but even Superman needs a break sometimes. So, put down the triple espresso and start prioritizing self-care. Maybe it's yoga, maybe it's a bubble bath, or maybe it's screaming into a pillow (hey, whatever works). Make whatever you choose a non-negotiable part of your routine, or you'll be the one going mental.

Next up, let's talk about your team. You want them to perform like a bunch of circus animals, but without the whips and chains, right? Well, it's time to create a culture where mental health is just as important as the bottom line. Encourage your team to take breaks, use their vacation time, and leave work at work. And if you catch anyone pulling an all-nighter, send them home with a stern talking-to (and maybe a cup of chamomile tea).

But let's not stop there. If you're serious about keeping your team from going off the deep end, it's time to invest in some mental health resources. Maybe it's bringing in a therapist for your team, or maybe it's giving everyone a pet goldfish to take care of (hey, it worked for me). Whatever it is, make sure you're putting your money where your mouth is and showing your team that you value their well-being.

There it is. It's time to get tough on mental health in the workplace. Take care of yourself, prioritize mental health for your team, and invest in resources that will keep everyone from turning into a bunch of clowns (unless that's your business, then carry on). And if you need help along the way, don't be afraid to ask for it – even the strongest of us need a little help from time to time.
